Well anther year has come and gone and the Slack Alice's Show and shine went off without a hitch again. It is quickly becoming a mainstay for penticton!  The turn out this year was double that of last year. the weather cooperated and once again the Penticton RCMP showed thier presence. There where no incidents.

CRASH BANG BOOM........ Once again the speedway is open for all the speed freeks and and Racing Fanatics..... who doesn't love the smellof burning rubber and the sound of twisted metal? 800 fans showed up to partake in the first sanctioned event of the year. This is actually an early season start compared to previous years. 24 cars entered the hit to pass, and 26 claimer cars challenged the quarter mile paved oval.

    For people who are not farmiliar with "Hit to Pass" its a race where the rule is you must first bump the car infront of you before you pass it. If you fail to do so you must pull into the pits and pull back out, costing you several positions.

     Claimer class is similar to Nascar but not as Organized or Rule guided. the sponsors are local businesses rather than Major corperations. and the speeds are slightly ( but not much) slower than Nascar.

Say hello to Frank the Baggage Handler.... He was placed in The Marina Way RoundAbout. Penticton residents Have loudly voiced their Opinion about Franks Nudity.....Some Vandals removed his genitals with a sledge hammer a few weeks ago which resulted in city council voting to remove the statue from the roundabout.... still franks future in penticton is uncertian. Euorope has David, but penticton doesn't seem to be so open minded!!! Art is Art in my opinion! There is no "BAD"  art as residents are implying.
